When in Europe.

We’re back! From a lovely (and very warm!) vacation across Europe. Getting to experience Europe with my mother (who had never been) was truly memorable a experience and I am grateful that I had the opportunity travel with her on this trip. During our two week adventure, we had the opportunity to visit 7 countries, which ended up being a marathon of a trip! While I had been to some of the countries (Spain, France, Belgium & Italy), others like Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland were new to me.

While there were many memorable experiences and sites that we got to experience, I’ll leave you with the top 9 things that I would recommend should you have the opportunity to visit any of these countries yourself….

While in Barcelona: Shop for stylish espadrilles at Toni Pons who have been in business since 1946.

While in Paris: Take a coffee break and people watch a’la Picasso at renowned Café de Flore.

While in Lourdes: Admire the architecture of the underground Basilica of St. Pius by Pierre Vago.

While in Bruges: Aside from the beer, definitely try the countries traditional moules-frites.

While in Amsterdam: Cruise the bicycle capital of the world …. on a bike.

While in Cologne: Walk aka hike the 533 steps to the top of the Cologne Cathedral.

While in Lucerne: Take a boat tour around Lake Lucerne and if time permits ascend to the top of Mt. Rigi Bahnen.

While in Switzerland: Take in the picturesque views of the Alps on the Benina Express. This was our transportation from Switzerland to Italy.

While in Rome: Espcape the hustle and bustle of the city with a quaint lunch at La Ciambella, a recommendation I found in the NY Times.
